Since methodology of o.blood test strip is based on the principle of peroxidase like oxidation reaction of hemoglobin in red blood cells, o.blood test strip reacts with hemoglobin and myoglobin in urine. Thus o.blood test strip can detect both hemoglobinuria and hematuria while hemoglobinuria cannot be detected by microscopic examination. However, o.blood test strip also can react with oxidizing agents, strong acid like hypochlorite and bacterial peroxidase, which lead the test result to reflect a false positive. In presence of ascorbic acid(vitamin-C) or excess amount of a strong reducing substances could lead the test result to a false-negative when the blood is low in its concentration. |
